The prospect of slashing their overheads and escaping government penalties for non-compliance with new energy performance directives kept an audience of 40 business people on the edge of their seats at the monthly dinner of the Stansted Airport Chamber of Trade this January.
Guest speak Phil Evans of CBRE gave a talk about the introduction of Energy Performance Certificates – a legal requirement for all business premises in 18 months time. Not, on the face of it, the most enthralling of topics, but the idea that box ticking could prove a lucrative business benefit – and pay for a luxury holiday – soon won the rapt attention of the audience!
The dinner was sponsored by Frogmore, the national developers, who in anticipation of new EPC legislation, have just launched a development of energy efficient office and business units at M11 Business Link, Stansted.
